KGV School – Hong Kong – Challenge Week 2019

Challenge Week at KGV was great fun. It was our first time doing the week at this school. 20 students, 3 bands. The challenge was to write their own tune, learn and play a cover, plus perform No Roots and Crowded House classic, Better Be Home Soon as a whole group. Cassell also led a small multimedia team who did the social media, created a video with interview extracts, pics, and footage. It was a mixed age range. Year 8 to 10 students. It culminated with a performance in their theatre. It was the first time the majority of the students had been in a band, or composed their own songs. They did superbly. The thing that struck me most was the inclusivity, and the support they gave to one another. They were kids with very admirable personal qualities. Big thanks to Head of Music, Alex Carlile for looking after us and showing us a great time. Plus, Rex who supports everything in the department.
